In 2008, Peel Regional Police reported 4,566 break-ins/burglaries, nearly 60% of which were residential. The total number has increased since 2006 by about 6%.

Per day, there were approximately 8 motor vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in Brampton in 2008, which totaled more than 2,980 incidents. Robberies in 2008 occurred 1,103 times, with half involving weapons or firearms. This, too, was on an increase over 2006 figures by about 11%.
