Mississauga crime statistics from 2008
Incorporated in 1974, Mississauga, Ontario is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and is the fastest growing city around Toronto. The 6th largest municipality in Canada, Mississauga has almost doubled in population in each of the last two decades.

In 2008, of the 231,000 break-ins reported to Mississauga police in 2008, more than 60% were residences. Mississauga City police reported a rise in property crime with 2,009 offenses. Robberies also increased slightly to 30,000, 11% of which involved use of a firearm.
